Pronoun Policy

Game-itoba strives to provide a space where everyone is free to be themselves and everyone feels welcome. Gender identity is a protected grounds under the Manitoba Human Rights Code. Not only is respecting another person’s gender identity a basic human right, but it is also the simplest way to treat another person with equality, dignity, and respect.

Where Game-itoba provides badges to participants you will see a space for everyone to supply the name and pronouns they wish to be addressed by. There are a wide range of pronouns in use in our community. While They/Them, She/Her or He/Him are probably the most common pronouns you may see, Game-itoba encourages everyone to use the pronouns they use or wish to use in everyday life and expects that all participants respect those requests.

Completing this section is entirely optional and if you wish to leave this section blank that is entirely reasonable. We respectfully request that participants refrain from using this space for misrepresentation, jest or content other than the pronouns you wish to be commonly addressed by. Such behavior could be interpreted as transphobic harassment. Game-itoba is a safe space where everyone should feel welcomed and accepted.

If you are unsure of the implications of this policy and how it impacts filling out your own badge, feel free to ask one of our volunteers at the registration desk (where you pick up your badge) for advice and assistance.
